LOS ANGELES (LALATE) ? A Montana tornado 2013 warning today has struck Forestgrove, Lewistown, and sections of Fergus County. The Montana tornado warning today July 9, 2013 was released by officials to news moments ago.
The National Weather Service in Great Falls tells news that a system in the area is prompting concerns. Officials report that ?at 236 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 26 miles west of Forestgrove?. They also indicate that the storm was ?14 miles southwest of Lewistown? and ?moving east at 40 mph.?
Officials as a result have issued a warning for southern Fergus County in central Montana until 315 PM MDT today. The NHC indicates to news that the projected path of the storm is troubling. ?The most dangerous portion of the storm will generally remain over rural areas of southern Fergus County. This also includes Highway 87 between mile markers 39 and 40.? NHC also added that the system could reach Highway 200. ?This also includes Highway 200 between mile markers 68 and 72.?
Significant hail could strike the region as well. ?In addition to the tornado this storm is capable of producing Golf.? Officials add that the tornado may already be on the ground. Namely when a ?Tornado Warning is issued based on Doppler radar it means that strong rotation has been detected in the storm. A tornado may already be on the ground or is expected to develop shortly.?
