NWS confirms tornado hit Peru

PERU, Ind. (WISH) - National Weather Service officials confirm a tornado hit Peru on Wednesday.

Officials said an EF-1 tornado with estimated winds of 95 mph hit the community in Miami County.

Trees were uprooted and structures were destroyed as a result of the tornado. No serious injuries were reported.

The tornado's path was about 3 1/2 miles long.

The community began the clean-up process on Thursday . Other nearby communities and Gov. Mike Pence had all offered assistance.
